15 days until SAT results are released. I’m hoping desperately for something above a 2200, otherwise I’ll have to go through the process of dealing with it again…which I really just don’t want to do. I’m tired of being anxious about things, and as soon as the scores are in, my thesis paper is written, all my Selected American pre-course work is completed, and ACDA...
An Education.
The bus ride home brought me to some thoughts I’ve been struggling to grasp lately. What makes me entitled to the life I live? What makes me, an unremarkable teenage girl from Connecticut, so much better off than a huge majority of people in the world? I really want to know what it’s like to shoot a gun. Really. I have no desire to kill anything, I just want to see what it feels like to have the power to do that. I had the opportunity too. You don’t have to lie...

An impasse
The worst thing about finishing a really amazing book is that it feels impossible to start another. Whether it’s because you’re still savoring the style in which it was written, feel really attached to the characters, or the conclusion is still haunting you; moving on from that really really amazing book seems a hopeless task. Luckily, there’s always Harry Potter.

– Monna Innominata (7): Christina Rossetti
I love that moment when you can feel a book getting good…as if it begins accelerating and you tumble head first into a state of mind consumed by syntax, character, and plot twists; gallivanting onwards until the last page is turned.
